Joachim Grieg founded our brokerage firm. Globally, Joachim played a significant role as an entrepreneur. He developed international contacts, trades and enabled Norwegian shipowners to participate in international businesses.
Oslo (Christiania) office established.
Joachim Grieg elected as the first Chairman of The Bergen Shipbroker Association.
The company became reorganized as the brokerage firm Joachim Grieg & Co. when Joachim Grieg’s younger brother, Halfdan, was named co-owner.
Halfdan’s grandson, Per Grieg sr., joined the company. In the years that followed the companies that would make up the Grieg Group were established.
Being in the forefront of new trends, our Offshore department first saw the first light of day.
Celebrating 100 years in business. The different companies that had originated from our firm was restructured into the Grieg Group.
Expanded into chemical tanker and LPG broking. The current partnership model was established, where employees were invited in as 45% owners of the company.
After 132 years being known as Joachim Grieg, we changed our name to Grieg Shipbrokers.
